Hockey Rules!  Or so says Lee!

Lee

“Make-A-Wish® came along just in time.”

Lee had just finished an aggressive series of chemotherapy treatments in his battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  “It was a very bad day for Lee,” said his mom.  “He was so sick that day, but when he heard that he was going to get a wish granted, it cheered him and put a smile on his face.”

Lee, who is 15 years old and resides in Fremont, wished for a trip to Colorado where he could meet and watch his favorite hockey team, the Colorado Avalanche, play the Detroit Red Wings.  To quote Lee, “The thing I like the most about hockey is watching ten people fighting over that little puck.”

Lee had his whole wish mapped out and worked out the strategy, checking the game schedule, and Amtrak.  Lee preferred to travel on the rails of steel, and his family enjoyed their train trip through Nebraska to Colorado.

The game he chose to watch was considered much the same as a Big Red vs Oklahoma football game played at home.

Lee was able to meet his favorite players, David Aebischer and Joe Sakic, who later skated on to fight a tough match, but losing in overtime to Detroit 2-3.

Lee’s mom said, “Lee’s illness really has been a family affair, and this is a great end to a very difficult time.”
