Katie’s Wish to Visit Hawaii
Made Possible by Jewelers Charity Fund for Children
After a full day of travel, Katie’s Hawaiian adventure began
with a visit to Sea Life Park, where she watched the dolphins
dance, sea lions sing, and penguins perform in this magical
place by the sea.
The next day, she and her parents had “ring side” seats
for the marathon, which started on Ala Moana Boulevard, which
in Hawaiian, means “path by the ocean.” An itinerary of the
day’s events helped Katie keep up with Aunt Allison’s progress.
It was a thrill for Katie and her parents to cheer on her
aunt.
Katie loves horses, so arrangements had been made for her
to visit Happy Trails Hawaii the next day, where she participated
in horsemanship safety and riding orientation before being
matched to an appropriate horse for a guided horseback ride.
What could be better than horseback riding in Hawaii? Well,
maybe a luau…
No trip to Hawaii would be complete without a luau, and
Katie’s dinner at Paradise Cove Luau turned out to be a major
highlight for her. At the oceanside setting, there were authentic
Hawaiian games to play, lei making, and hula dancing for everyone!
A huge thank you to JCF, who made Katie’s wish possible.
Since 1999, JCF has generated more than $2.6 million for Make-A-Wish
children throughout the country. “We truly believe that children
are the most precious of all gems,” said Pattie Light, executive
director of the JCF. “We are enormously proud of the benevolence
of our industry and celebrate the partnership we have with
Make-A-Wish.”
