Wish Stories

Jacob seated in his new Big Red camping chair, just outside of his new camper.

                                 Happy Trails, Jacob!

“Thank you!” young Jacob shouted to all who could hear!

Jacob loves his family and camping, so when questioned what his wish might be, this nine-year-old’s response was quick and precise:  “A pop-up camper” would be just the thing.

Jacob was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002, and is very close to his parents and younger brother, Colton.  His wish-granting volunteers went to work to find the perfect camper, and found it in South Sioux City, near his home town of Allen.

The wheels were soon set in motion, so to speak, and a surprise party for Jacob  was held at the Fremont RV Center in South Sioux City on a beautiful Saturday morning. Jacob was presented the keys to his new Rockwood pop-up camper at a party, which included cake for all in addition to gifts for Jacob to make his wish complete:  a Nebraska Parks Permit, portable TV/DVD (a must for camping!), and of course, camping gear.

Jacob and his family were overwhelmed, and excited to take Jacob’s camper out to enjoy family time and create great memories.  Many thanks to the Fremont RV Center and everyone else who contributed to Jacob’s wish to make it an incredibly special day and memory for Jacob and his family.
