Wade’s first day in the Florida sun was special as the
family was treated to a tour of Dolphin Stadium where they
were allowed to go out on the field to get the players perspective,
something not many people get to experience. Later they
were served lunch in one of the skyboxes. More surprises
were in store around the corner when they were taken to
NFL Experience and received VIP treatment with personal
escorts. Wade didn’t even have to wait in line to get autographs.
His favorite signature that day came from Mel Blunt, who
has four Super Bowl rings.
The next day Wade was taken to South Beach where he watched
a taping of ESPN and met Merle Hodge and Joe Thiesmann.
Then it was off to Celebrity Go Cart Race, where Wade had
the opportunity to greet more celebrities like Queen Latifiah,
Venus Williams, Paul Rudd, Fergie, Shawn Merriman, Josh
Duhamel, Nick Lachay and others. One more stop on this day
brought the family to Parrot Jungle Island where Wade was
able to get his picture taken with snakes, lizards, skunks
and monkeys.
Before long, Super Bowl Sunday arrived and Wade and his
family started the day with a tailgate party at the Hard
Rock Hotel and Casino, then off to the game. The pre-game
show was pretty cool said Wade, but his favorite part was
the half-time entertainment. “It was the best half-time
show ever,” he exclaimed. Wade was very happy that his team
favorite, the Colts, won the game.
Wade and his family said that they met some very nice people
on their trip and they plan to keep in touch with some of
them. Wade’s family is very grateful to the people who support
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska for making Wade’s special
wish come true.
